Cornerstone ‘hacks’ to save you time!

Back when life was ‘normal’ the focus all seemed to be on saving time, children speaking in emoji’s and abbreviations as life’s too short to use all the syllables.  You only have to google the phrase ‘life hack’ to find 327 million results….327 MILLION!! All designed at doing things faster, cheaper and easier.

So why not apply the logic to work. More and more employees are expecting to see the same ease of use at work as they expect at home.  As a colleague of mine once said very eloquently – you don’t need a manual to use Facebook, so why should you need one to use systems at work.

Let’s do all we can to make what we do at work as quick and easy as possible.

Here’s a few things I’ve learned during my time as a Cornerstone client and in my current role as Cornerstone Specialist to help make employees lives that little bit easier.

Let’s do all we can to make what we do at work as quick and easy as possible.

Here’s a few things I’ve learned during my time as a Cornerstone client and in my current role as Cornerstone Specialist to help make employees lives that little bit easier.

  1. Turn on the new Learning Details screen. Not only does it look better, you can now launch content you’ve previously registered for from the same screen as you looked at when you registered
  2. Just because a page doesn’t have an entry in Deep Links, doesn’t mean you can’t construct one – look at the URL, pair it with your SSO link and test it out – you may find you can get people to the page you want them to directly without having to spell out long instructions
  3. Employees not being able to locate the evaluation they’ve been asked to do after a course
    1. Turn on the Training Completion page and add either the 5 star rating, the formal evaluation or both to it so that online content presents the ability to evaluate at the moment the course has completed
    2. Make evaluations mandatory for classroom learning, this keeps the learning in the active training record so the user can be directed to where the Evaluate option is rather than having to find where the Completed record is. If the evaluation doesn’t get completed in the relevant time period it will expire and mark the training complete – plus you get to send out reminder emails
  4. Instead of directing employees to the separate Scheduled Tasks page for performance reviews and somewhere else for objectives and somewhere else for learning – adopt the Actions page that collates these things into one definitive priority sorted list
  5. Create Dashboards out of your Reporting 2.0 reports and share just them, then data can be seen at a high level and drilled into if necessary
  6. Set up auto-archiving rules for the learning record so that it isn’t cluttered with training that’s no longer active, cancelled or withdrawn

Just a few things to get you thinking.
